Hibiscus 6 Months ago Karma: 0
What do I give my established hibiscus now the weather is cooler? Do I water as much too. I bought a lovely hibiscus in Oct and now should re-pot, what should I put in the pot, like fertilizer etc? Again what type of fertilizer should I use and how often and during the winter or not?????

Hibiscus, in general, are usually not too demanding. Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is the most common, it is evergreen and can tolerate temperatures down to 'about' 30 degrees f. Anything colder than that, it should be protected from frost with a blanket or moved to a protected area. As for feeding this time of the year, usually not much is needed. Check the labels as to how much to use and how often, most fertilzers are appled monthly, but CHECK the label to be sure. When the weather starts to warm, about March, a good general purpose plant food is all they really need. To be sure you get nice blooms find one with pleanty of phosphours and potash, most rose foods would fit the bill.
